We will be paying a visit to Otterton Mill on Tuesday 14 June to hold a free antiques valuation event.

Auction Manager Brinley Roberts says, ‘We were delighted to receive the invitation from Chris Wright, the Mill business owner, to hold this event. We are expecting a large number of visitors, and they can of course look round the facilities at the Mill as well as having their antiques appraised.’

Brinley will be joined at the event by his colleagues, auctioneer Philip Hurst, and Consultant Valuer Michael Willey. The two valuation sessions will run from 10.30am – 12.30pm and 2.00pm to 4.00pm.

We are already a regular visitor to Budleigh Salterton Public Hall where we hold valuation mornings, and we run similar sessions at Potburys furniture shop in Sidmouth High Street.

Brinley adds, ‘We’ve had some very interesting things consigned  from previous valuation events, and we are much looking forward to what we might see at the Mill. Our next Antiques and Decorative Sale is on 19 July, but there is of course no obligation on those coming along to consign their treasured possessions.’

It might be, though, that no antique brought along will match Otterton Mill in terms of age. The earliest written record of the mill is in the Domesday survey in 1068!
