Covid-19 Update – appointments still necessary to bid in person
Regulations and Guidance from the Government concerning COVID-19 have meant a new way of working and a new way of running our auctions. Since England moved to Step 4 of the roadmap on 19 July, Government advice is that everyone should be cautious while managing the risks as cases of COVID-19 remain high. Therefore, we will continue to operate our viewing days and sale days with appropriate precautions. This means it is not necessary to book an appointment to attend a viewing day, but we will allow only a maximum of 10 visitors into the sale room at any time. A limited number of places will be available to those wishing to bid in person. On auction days, please telephone in advance to book a place if you would like to bid in person. We encourage bidding live through the internet on www.the-saleroom.com, or by leaving a commission bid.
We encourage visitors to the auction room to wear a mask and be mindful of social distancing. Please sanitise your hands upon arrival, and masks and gloves continue to be available free of charge.
Persons viewing a sale are asked to minimise their handling of objects. We will gladly provide condition reports and supply further images by email. Please speak to a member of staff if you require assistance.
Online bidding for our sales will be available through www.the-saleroom.com. Telephone bids (subject to availability) and commission bids will be accepted. Please see our Home Page and Auction Calendar for future auction and viewing dates and times.
We continue to provide valuations for probate.
We no longer accept cash payments. Contactless card payment preferred, or BACS. We cannot accept ‘cardholder not present’ payments in excess of £300, in which case direct bank transfer will be necessary.
Catalogues – these are published on our website, and we encourage bidders to download the catalogue to their smartphone or tablet. Free wi-fi available. A printed catalogue will no longer be available for inspection. If you would like to purchase a printed copy, please pay by contactless card.
Toilets – we regret that toilet facilities are no longer available for use by customers or visitors.
No food or drink is to be consumed on the premises.
Please do not visit the auction room if you have tested positive for COVID-19, have symptoms of COVID-19, if you feel unwell, or have been ‘pinged’ by NHS Test and Trace.
